"Costa Chica : mexican afrodescendents."

By Franck Courtel.

I am still living in the state of Sonora, North México when I decide to go to this mysterious region between Guerrero and Oaxaca called Costa Chica. At about 4 hours drive from the famous Acapulco, this area is still preserved from touristic invasion and resorts.
Indeed, my wish is to discover these inhabitants so many people told me about since I am travelling in the country. The first time I heared about them was in 1996 and they told me about Pinotepa Nacional, Oaxaca and its black people.

This work has been awarded with the First Photographic Prize during the Second Mexican Congress of Anthropology in Morelia, Michoacan in september 2012.
